This is my small Welsh abc collection. ABC is a language designed to notate simple tunes in a way that can be transmitted by email, invented by Chris Walshaw.  I don't play all of the tunes but I'm an abc junkie from when I discovered how useful they were for learning Irish flute tunes.  So I collect abc's.

The first file contains tunes I hunted down on the web when I was first learning about Welsh dance music from Jodee and Ceri.  Special thank you's go to the transcribers in this file, John Chambers, Gary Chapin, Richard Robinson,
and Bruce Olson.

Mostly these tunes have been on the net for years.

The second file contains more recent transcriptions.   A few are my own
and a few were sent to me by Kevin Gow and Keith Davies Jones.   However the bulk of the transcriptions included in this second file are from Ceri Rhys Matthews. A thank you to them!

Ceri is a master piper and core member of the band Fernhill. Fortunately for all of us, Ceri has recently been bitten by the abc bug.  He has transcribed a sizable collection, some from Nicholas Bennett's Alawon fy Ngwlad, 1896 and other collections and manuscripts.  Also he has transposed many of the tunes
to keys that are friendly to the keyless concert flute and pipes.

This second file is a growing file and as we transcribe, more tunes or another file will be added.  I apologize in advance for any errors in the abc's- this is an educational experience for all of us.

Lastly, the file names, Desert Welsh, simply describe those
of us who sometimes feel stranded in the desert, far from the everyday
Welsh players.

If anyone reading this holds any copyright to a tune mistakenly noted as public domain (traditional, etc.) and you wish the tune removed, please let us know and we will remove it.  The purpose of this collection is only to make the music available for personal enjoyment and private study.
